Stump Grinding in Foresthill, CA

Foresthill is a real drive from Auburn, and we make it — but it's worth being straight about what fits and what doesn't before anyone commits to the trip.

The trees up the divide are pine and cedar and they get big. Small and medium is our range. A three-foot pine stump is a solid morning's work and squarely something we do. A stump from timber-sized wood is a no, and you'll hear that on the phone rather than after we've driven an hour each way.

Long dirt, ranch gates, and the gate that actually matters

A typical Foresthill setup is a quarter mile of dirt or gravel, a ranch gate at the road, a clearing, a well somewhere in it, and outbuildings. We need to know about all of it.

The ranch gate is rarely the constraint — it's the 36-inch walk gate behind it, or the corner between the shed and the propane tank, that decides whether the machine reaches the wood. Measure that one. And if the drive has a soft section or a washout after rain, mention it, because a loaded trailer finds those first.

Stumps left after a takedown

Most calls up here follow something else: a dead tree came out, a hazard tree was dropped, or a crew did fire clearance and left the stumps at cutting height.

They're still fuel, they catch embers and ankles, and they're in the way of everything you wanted the clearing for. We grind them 6 to 12 inches under. What this isn't is full lot mastication — if you need an acre knocked down, that's a clearing job to price separately, not something to tack onto a stump call.
